Taxis & ride-hailing
Use the app. The price is agreed before you get in and there is a record of the journey.
Information changes. Times, prices and ways of doing things are a guide only.
Grab and Bolt are the default for everything the trains do not reach. A 20-minute ride is typically 90–180 THB, priced before you accept, paid by card or cash. Both show the driver, the plate and the route, which an ordinary street taxi does not.
Motorbike taxis (orange vests) cost about half and are three times faster in traffic. They are also a motorbike in Bangkok traffic — your call, but wear the helmet they hand you.
Ordinary metered taxis must use the meter. If the driver refuses or quotes a flat fare, get out and take the next one; there is always a next one. The 50 THB airport surcharge and expressway tolls are legitimate extras on top of the meter.
