Daily transport as a resident

In Bangkok, a monthly BTS pass is worth it above ~40 trips. Everywhere else, a scooter is the default: buying used costs 25,000–45,000 THB, new 55,000–75,000, and a full tank is under 150 THB.

Converting your Bulgarian licence

You can convert to a Thai licence with your Bulgarian licence, a medical certificate (200 THB from any clinic), a certificate of residence from immigration, and a short video-and-reaction test at the Department of Land Transport. First licence is valid 2 years, then 5.

Compulsory insurance (por ror bor) is about 650 THB/year for a motorbike and is the legal minimum — it covers almost nothing. Add first-class cover for a car (฿12–20k/year) if you can.
